Beginning in January 2008 the Fruit Hill Neighborhood Association elected new officers. The organizational priority for the near future is to work with the Town Administration to share ideas, locations and uniformity regarding street signage to replace most, if not all, streets signs. Once again the Association has accepted a challenge grant from the Fruit Hill Volunteer Firemen’s Association. The new challenge is to raise $2500 for a total of $5,000 to help design, purchase and install large high quality street signs with night reflecting surfaces to enhance readability.
The Association is continuing to focus our efforts to revitalize the historically peaceful residential atmosphere in our neighborhood . Our association committees have been reformed to reflect our new priorities. Attached is a listing of these committees, as well as copies of some newspaper articles highlighting some of the issues which are of interest to our organization.
In summary, the officers and directors of the FHNA are of the opinion that we have a strong vibrant, growing organization. We have gained the respect not only of the town officials, but also of the members of the Fruit Hill community, as exemplified by large attendance at our general meetings, as well as an increase in our membership rolls.
We will continue to advocate for the retention of open space in our community, as well as being actively involved with the town Environmental Commission and the Land Trust Commission issues. We will continue our efforts to beautify and maintain our Fruit Hill Community by obtaining federal, state and foundation grants, while continuing our local fund raising. With these added sources of revenue, the FHNA will continue to be a resource for members of our neighborhood to advocate for a clean and safe neighborhood in which to live peacefully and be proud of for years to come.
